Canberra is Australia’s capital city, being the largest inland city in Australia and located in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The selection of the site for Canberra as nation’s capital was done in 1908 as a result of the compromise between two rival cities; Sydney and Melbourne. The design of Canberra ACT is a result of the influence of the garden city movement and also incorporating noteworthy areas for natural vegetation. The ACT is independent of any other state of Australia. Canberra ACT composes of a high number of public servants, which is dubbed the public servants’ capital city. Canberra has the attractions of Lake Burley-Griffin, Parliament House, War Memorial, various museums, Yarralumla with the Governor General Residents and foreign embassies. Canberra in September/October each other hosts the Floriade Flower Festival.
